If a local feed stores buys it from a local grainery in FL or AL it will be only soft wheat (for cookies) not bread. I buy from a bakery that orders from Walton Feed. Call Walton to see if there are any deliveries in your area. Or do a group order with friends. If you know any LDS members there are storage centers in Plant City and Orlando that have wheat. Try getting prices from a health food store for 50 lb bags. I’ve found WF wheat to be much cleaner though.

D69A thank you very much… things went very smoothly! 70 gallon size and 15 five gallon size. Lost some seals at first due to trying to use a foodsaver to seal them, but with the electric iron… perfection!!!
    Thanks again!

I’ve done some food storage, and the thicker mylar is okay, but, the PET buckets, the long-chain molecules allow in, a lot a lot of water molecules, so everything spoils–I recommend AL foil, or some type of metal container.
Also, get a quality vacuum pump and hemispherical heads, or, carefully grind the welds to separate halves of torque converters, and pump a vacuum with small amount of heat–dry the food, and seal in foil, etc., . . .

The Europian food commission tells us further research in food preservers is acquired before they’ll give us permission to use ‘em.
Though Japan and the United States are already using them for years without problems…

Pack as shown, purge all the air out at the top of the bag by sealing all but a 2″ or so corner, purge all the air out by pushing on the bag as you fold the corners over, then seal the last 2″ of the bag. Basically same procedure we show on the videos.

Hey delta69alpha I have a dozen buckets. I was wondering if you think gamma lids are worth using? The biggest concern I have is when I open the buckets up in x amount of years.. whether the food will go bad if I don’t use it all and try to reseal the bucket.

Home Depot sells their buckets for 2.50 and lids for 1.00, just in case people can’t find them elsewhere.

Quick question, where do you get your mylar bags and oxygen absorbers?

Rabbit is our main meat here as we raise rabbits. Occasionally we will do a batch of meat birds and put them up. Legumes with grains offer a complete protein. Make sure your supplements have LYSINE also- it’s the one thing missing in wheat. “Dave in Idaho”
