Hmm, I think I should start preparing – where I live here in Canada, I am a long ways away from any store.

    Preparedness or …
Preparedness or paranoia? Maybe a bit of both, I agree society is very fragile. But isn’t that ALMOST over the top? Or are you strictly doing it because you feel you should be ready a little bit if the power goes out for 2 days or something

  3. rickvanman says:

    Prepared, yes. …
Prepared, yes. Paranoia? No. One has to be delusional to be paranoid, and I don’t think it’s delusional to prepare for the unexpected.

How much is over the top? Is there such a thing as too much preperation?
Difficult to judge when nobody knows what the need will be until it arrives, after which time your existence depends on the preps you have made.

I try to be moderate, but in my book, logic dictates the more preps you make, the better, and the more people you are able to help.

    Well i guess that’s …
    Well i guess that’s fair,
Gotta always follow the 6P’s: Priorr Planning Prevents Poor Performance

I know I could most likely survive in the Canadian Wilderness for 3 days with nothing besides a hatchet and some clothes, oh maybe a lighter would be nice too.

But still i have to be prepared a little to have all that with me. Some of the things I see behind you are almost unnecessary. Like how many rolls of paper towels do you need? Or do you keep the ones you use day to day in there?

  5. rickvanman says:

    There is a golden …
There is a golden rule to stocking – stock what you use, and use what you stock. Nothing goes unused. Nothing here is unnecessary.
Headding for the wilderness if you live in Canada is an option for you, but on this tiny island, groaning under the weight of all the people living here, bugging out is not a viable option.
“Bugging in”, is pretty much the order of the day, so we have to stock accordingly.

    It’s so true. Today …
It’s so true. Today countries have a very thin line between total chaos and total prosperity. Is important to stay alert. If the end pf the world come one day, trues me no one will be prepared. That is why is call Armageddon XD. Anyway awesome Vlog. I give you 5/5 ?????

    In the winter time …
In the winter time in the New England states of America….sometimes the power can be down for 6 weeks. You should be prepared. We are all dependent on oil, the electrical grid, and the flow of goods by modern transportation. Do you remember Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans?

  12. johnny102marvin says:

    It’s really nice to …
It’s really nice to have an extra supply of toilet paper when the elctricity has been shut off for weeks during a New England winter. Nothing wrong with stocking up on paper towels and toilet paper…unless you want to use a leaf or your finger.

  13. johnny102marvin says:

    Some day in the …
Some day in the future the oil is going to stop flowing out of the middle east. Nothing lasts forever. It could stop tomorrow if Iran develops nuclear weapons. Everything in our lives is based on the free flow of oil. All most all of our products are created with oil. All of our transportation is based upon oil. All of our food comes to us via oil combustion. Oil is the foundation of our lives. It’s going to stop coming one of these days. Are you ready?

    that is so strange …
that is so strange that you said it was your instinct because that is how it has been for me in these last few weeks. I am flying around like a mad woman to try and get things done for my family. I feel like an idiot because I am the only one doing it but something inside my stomach tells me I am running out of time. I do not panic very easily, infact I was told to become more urgency minded..hahah…Ok ..I wish I knew how much time I had left…sound weird huh.

No, doesn’t sound wierd to me! I know where you are coming from.

    Hi Rick,
    Really …

    Hi Rick,
Really loving your videos on preparing – you are a wise man, and i totally agree with your gut feelings. I was just wondering if you are also a gold/silver bug?? Do you invest in precious metals to protect wealth? If you do, that would make another great topic for your series. Keep them coming and best wishes from Scotland.

  18. rickvanman says:

    Thanks for the …
Thanks for the comment – yes I have invested in Silver quite heavily in the past couple of months – but only because my savings account is paying 0.008% interest!

Figured it was worth speculating on as many sources point towards silver rising in value. Plus silver is a pretty stable currency. Hope to make a video on it in the not too distant future.

  19. TheSilverHolder says:

    Too bad you lost …
Too bad you lost your guns in the UK, tragic really, especially since Islamization is destroying your country. Preparedness requires self-defense and self-preservation and that means food, water, medical supplies, guns, ammo, gold and silver.

  20. rickvanman says:

I guess on the plus …
I guess on the plus side, there are fewer guns out there for the bad guys to use too.

  21. orangetart4762 says:

    Definitely a good …
Definitely a good series man. I’ve been getting into this kind of stuff a lot more lately, and it’s really interesting and good to have a fresh perspective from across the puddle. I’m sorry to say, but you’re when you say you guys are hosed if it ever comes down to the end of the world or anything like that, but I doubt it will. Thanks for the perspective.

  22. bigkitten says:

    @TheSilverHolder …
@TheSilverHolder Lost our guns? We never really had them! But as far as Islamifacation is concerned…..we truly are the surrender-monkeys of Europe! (And where I live, we see nothing of this!!) Yet! Don’t forget, thoug: Islam, is the religion of PEACE (not!)

  23. mechanicalbu11 says:

    i seen in your …
i seen in your country that guns are easily had by criminals. your food and gear is theirs if they know you have it.

i live in the usa …
i live in the usa and i have the same aproch to my survivalism. but i also have lots of guns and ammo, but that comes from my other hobbie is guns and reloading and im glad i still can have them. i hear that u.k. is trying to restrict knive also. is that true? if so to what ends.
    nice vid keepem coming
