    @ariannasage Kudos …
    @ariannasage Kudos to your for homeschooling your son. I was educated through homeschooling, private and public school. I got the most – academically, socially, culturally and emotionally – through homeschooling. I plan to give it a go with my own son beginning in September.

  2. reggieboy04 Said,

    @pattycake101ful …
    @pattycake101ful It’s a myth that homeschooled kids stay holed up in their houses all day. Most of them are out experiencing the world instead of staying trapped in one room/building all day. Don’t get me wrong – some schools are great and students thrive in them. However, even the “good” public schools in America are a joke compared to those in other countries.

  3. reggieboy04 Said,

    @videlsd I agree …
    @videlsd I agree that there are some teachers who are enthusiastic about what they do, but there are unfortunately a great deal of them who couldn’t care less. We like to think that we have great education in the United States, but our school systems are failing miserably compared to those in other countries.

  4. dzpisx Said,

    I consider …
    I consider homeschoolers to be not funny, not experienced (socially), generally bad listeners, loners (in public places), and very sheltered individuals.

    I learned all of this after just 1 year of being in a regular school. Freshman year. (9th grade, for you homeschoolers who didn’t know that)

    Oh and Myth 2..How often do you read a classic piece of literature like Charles Dickens or Jane Austen, and, if you often do, how fast can you read and actually comprehend it?

  5. dzpisx Said,

    Myth 1. You should …
    Myth 1. You should know how to socialize. Maybe not in a mainstream or very proper up-to-date way, but you should know HOW to. I did.

    Myth 2. No, not all “homeschoolers” are really really smart, some are because they care about the books, some aren’t because they have ADD or they simply want to have fun more than learn.

    Myth 3. I think that ties in with 1, and the answer is altogether you should at least have 2 friends. Like, for the rest of your life as a “homeschooler”.

    @pattycake101ful …
    @pattycake101ful please use periods dear, it´s difficult to read. This kids are not saying that Public schools suck, they are saying that public, private and home schoolers are pretty much the same. And yes, most non home-schooled kids ask those stupid questions in that stupid way.

  7. CarmenMCS Said,

    @videlsd Did you …
    @videlsd Did you ever know that to home-school your kids you do need qualifications and certification of those qualifications? Otherwise it´s illegal and your kids are “conscript” to go to a regular school. I think that should answer all of you questions. Also, if you think that little children need any “specialist in their area” then you know nothing about the educational system and the needs of the kids. And specialist are NOT teachers, they are scientists, philologers, but not TEACHERS.

    its funny how you are trying to discuss the homeschool stereotype when you yourself are stereotyping public school students. next time think before you make a video.geez

  11. CertainAsTheSun Said,

    @videlsd, many …
    @videlsd, many American public schools are poor and private schools are too expensive for some parents. The government shouldn’t force parents to send their kids to crappy schools. There are many good public schools but you don’t really get to choose which one your child goes to – it all depends on what district you live in. Parents are capable of utilizing the internet, buying their own school supplies/books and organizing their own field trips.

  12. GeorgeTheLibrarian Said,

    This is great, I totally agree with the questions. My favorite question i got asked was- ”do you like… get to go outside?” My reply? – ”Yeah. well kinda, once a month my da lets me look out the window” sometimes you just have to take advantage of the stupid questions…

  17. videlsd Said,

    @Ifnotschool …. ” …
    @Ifnotschool …. “teachers pet” or “sad”? Have you ever heard of IB? … And I didn’t say that homeschoolers should go to jail, i said that parents who don’t send their kids to school go to jail in the country where i’m from.

  18. Ifnotschool Said,

    @videlsd
    Why don’t …

    @videlsd
    Why don’t schools foster a love of learning? Well at my school it wasn’t cool to work. I loved learning as I was encouraged at home but you had to pretend you hadn’t done your homework etc. to fit in. Working hard you were either “teachers pet” or “sad”. Like any misunderstood minority, homeschoolers are regularly vilified and this video is simply trying to stand up to these comments. This vilification includes comments such as yours, that homeschoolers should go to jail!!!!

  19. videlsd Said,

    @Ifnotschool I …
    @Ifnotschool I agree with your first point, but that’s about it. How can schools not foster the love of learning? That’s an outrageous claim. And teachers obviously don’t do it for the pay…… I love my teachers, as well as they show love to their profession and to me as a student. :)

  20. Ifnotschool Said,

    @videlsd
    How can …

    @videlsd
    How can education by parents be better? … Because teachers have 20-30 kids to teach so very little time is spent with each child. Because schools do not foster a love of learning. Because teachers do not LOVE their pupils so won’t do what it takes if they’re not learning. Because studies show that homeschooled kids from all kinds of backgrounds do better academically … much better. Because schools are failing boys. I could go on! …

  21. videlsd Said,

    I come from a …
    I come from a country where if you don’t send your kids to school, you could go to jail. And I think that’s fair enough.
    How can the education from a parent, who hasn’t been certified to teach, who hasn’t been to school in 10+ years, beat the education of multiple teachers who specialize in their areas? Even if they’re bad, they’re still more knowledgeable on their specific class than… your parents probably ever will.

    This video doesn’t help your case, either. I think that was your point?

  22. pattycake101ful Said,

    Everyone look i …
    Everyone look i heard people saying public school education is not good well in my opinion if you live in a poor part and your public school the education can be awful but if you live in the good area you won’t be going out taking drugs public schools in good and none poor places are great i know so many people who graduated from good public schools also kids get tired of staying in the house all day sorry to other people who r hs
