@xj14y I …
@xj14y I emphasize twice in the video the golden rule of – eat what you store and store what you eat! It was the whole point of the video – not sure what you mean about the missed message?
The biggest message …
The biggest message missed here is that you should store what you like to eat. There’s no sense at all in stocking up in split pea soup if no one in your family eats split pea soup. Nice tip about rotation, but the nutritional tips really didn’t matter. Hit the high point on the protein sources, and remember that sometimes people may not have access to cooking those packets of noodles.
@rickvanman …
life is bad . huh!? In a second I thought you were saying ‘ I have a patio…come and plant here…’
@rickvanman Unfortunately I live a flat without even a balcony and not even window edge.
If you are worried, …
If you are worried, how about getting into gardening and growing your own? I have a tiny patio garden, but am still working on this option. I am building up a website called container gardening for food (see notes area for a link) where I am relaying my progress.
Under the beds in …
Under the beds in storage drawers, the backs of well-organised kitchen cupboards, inside the bottom of a wardrobe, think of any area of the home that is seldom used, can you stack totes there? can you make a shelving area? (see video above). The corner of a less-used room. Every home has lots of nooks and crannys you can utilise.
If there is a lot of junk or clutter in your home, think about having a garage sale, eBay, and/or a trip to the local dump to free up some space.
I wonder here in …
I wonder here in Florida is a good place to live and store food? We can not have a basement as our soil is very sandy weak. Most houses in Florida are flat with three bedrooms, two bath, one living, one kitchen and dining. Many has no car garage. Where would be the place for food storage ?
some tins are …
some tins are coated inside and some aren’t and wondering eating too much tin foods causes cancer? For storage I prefer to buy store brand or saver cheap tin foods but as you said we got to rotate, which means I have to eat continuously.
just covering the …
just covering the basics, but a very good video! 5 stars!
Great video, rick! …
Great video, rick! I’d rather have all the supplies and not need them than to need them and not have them. I’ve managed to get my husband on the “preparedness wagon” and he’s supportive of my efforts. Thanks for posting!
Nice vid.
I have …
Nice vid.
I have my food storage at about 1 month supply at the moment but I am aiming for around a 3 months supply then finally 6 months.
My biggest problem is the heat in summer drastically reduced the shelf life of my food storage.
I write the date on all my food when I purchase it so I can keep and eye on the age and it makes it easier to keep tack on rotating my stock.
check ‘simpsons …
check ‘simpsons code’ on youtube, this guy predicted that mid Oct- 9th November there would be a pandemic breaking out due to illuminati bioweapons..he predicts December will be wider spread…check it & suspend your disbelief…”sometimes the safest place to hide the truth is out in the open”…

lol…you know why …
lol…you know why this made me giggle? my fathers family were the type to store house and my sister always does…and more than a month or two. but we have bigger kitchens and pantries here.
i will repeat 4 new …
i will repeat 4 new viewers= if nothing happens all u have is som extra food to giv to needy ppl BUTif somthin happens it may save your life an that of loved ones ………preparation = peace of mind in bad trimes
Remember honey bee …
Remember honey bee which last a lifetime and rice store inside cracker tin cans plus use your roof for water catchment if no rivers or wells are in your area.
I think rickvanman …
I think rickvanman senses that there’s a change coming just as a lot of us do. Good or bad who knows. Best to be prepared.
There’s plenty going on that makes you wonder.

LOL – lighten up …
LOL – lighten up dude! This is only about general preparedness. This is just a new hobby – I’m not predicting anything specific to happen.
Being prepared for unexpected events and emergencies just makes good sense at any time.
It’s a good and FUN hobby to get into, just don’t get carried away with the conspiriacy theories! d;o)
Nah… Spam’s great …
Nah… Spam’s great…. what YOU’RE talking about is what we in the States call “Potted Meat Product”… “What’s in it” you ask? Everything that hasn’t already been used. …and I mean EVERYTHING.
