One of the easiest ways to stretch a grocery bill is to buy in bulk and use longer term storage. These Food Grade pails are the best I’ve found for doing just that. They are for sale now at our website at: http://www.grainbucket.com

    If you are missing …
If you are missing an arm, have severe arthritis or are in and out of large storage on a daily basis bucket is great for long term (again we have used these for years) storage.

If youy are building a bunker and plan to ignore your food stash for years, sure get the extra protection. We don’t do that. we rotate, use regularly and are fine.

We have shared this as an opinion for what WE are happy with.

Please don’t waist your time with this negative focus on how we do this.
    Thanks.

    In all fairness and …
In all fairness and politeness, this is simply a matter of opinion (like vs dislike) and we shared these because we like them. The personal insult that implies we ‘lied’ to make sales is uncalled for. We shared what we like.

Gama seals are often put on OLD PAINT AND CHEMICAL BUCKETS so that IS a hazard to one’s health. Smaller/arthritic hands cannot get the gama lids open to get in & out of the bucket. For indoor storage these are wonderful, if storing in a barn, sure take extra precautions.

“I do see one great selling point and that’s the latch type lid.”

I bought a lot of these type of buckets and I hate the lid. If you stack the buckets, the latch tends to jam. When this happens, it’s virtually impossible to get the lid off. The gamma lid is MUCH better.

Also, this bucket would still require the absorber and mylar for long term storage. There is nothing different in the composition than any other food grade bucket. Are you saying these things just to get more sales? :(

Thanks for the comment and question.

The seal in the lid doesn’t vacuum pack the bucket, but does prevent ‘air flow’ We don’t use any absorbers and keep grain in them for daily use as well as storage. Depending upon where you live you may want to add either the mylar bag or the oxygen absorbers but that is up to you. We don’t personally use them.

If the wheat, rice, etc stay dry, they should be fine for years! Not oats though due to the oil in the oat.

    Hope this helps!

This is good to know. I am still learning and want to understand: if the lid makes this airtight, etc., does this mean Mylar and oxygen-absorbing products are unnecessary for use with this bucket? Also, can wheat, rice, etc. be stored in these buckets for up to one year? Thanks!

I don’t even use the gamma seal maybe that’s why they are cheap. :D I really do like your lids though.

    Yep, depending upon …
Yep, depending upon the need other buckets may work fine. We LOVE these because of the lid and if someone is buying a bucket and then a gama seal lid the cost is more than our set most of the time, plus this lid is more user friendly than a gama seal.

    We’ve all gotta do what works best for our own storage though! (O;

Thanks for the post! Maybe some of our other videos will be of interest to you! Enjoy.

looks like a great product but 5 gallon buckets work great for in my shop and cost about $8.00 a set. I do see one great selling point and that’s the latch type lid.

best of luck to you guys.

    Hi!
Sorry – I missed that in the video! Thanks for asking!

This one pail (6.5 gal) holds ALMOST the entire 50# bag of wheat. There is about 2-3lb left out, but since we keep a stash in the pantry that’s smaller too, it’s used up pretty quick.

Of course oats are lighter so it takes 2 of these for oats.

Great question! Sorry for not mentioning that!
